Why Should You Choose a Peer-Rated Personal Injury Attorney?

When you or a loved one is injured in an accident, there are so many personal injury attorneys in Atlanta that it can be difficult to make the right choice. One way to separate the outstanding attorneys from the good ones is to look at the peer review rating system.

Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™

The mere fact that attorneys choose to participate in this peer rating system is significant, because that participation means that they are confident in their abilities and they believe that their peers will give positive responses to questions about the attorneys’ ethical standards and legal skills. Only those attorneys who are given a “very high general ethical standards” rating by their peers may even be evaluated for these legal abilities:

  • Legal knowledge, which simply measures how much the attorney knows about a given area of practice. Just as an oncologist should not give prenatal care to pregnant women, a family law attorney should not be practicing personal injury law.
  • Analytical capabilities, because it is one thing to know what the law says and quite another thing to know what the law means.
  • Judgment: Can the attorney accurately evaluate the strong and weak points of a given legal matter?
  • Communication ability, which measures both the attorney’s advocacy skills and client relation skills.
  • Legal experience: How long has the attorney been licensed to practice law in Georgia?

After peers rate the attorney from 1-5 in each category, the attorney is graded as Rated (score of 1.0-2.9), BV-Distinguished® (3.0-4.4) or AV-Preeminent® (4.5-5.0).
